Freeport Donor Center Expands Hours

Rock River Valley Blood Center in Freeport Changes Hours to Accommodate More Donors

Beginning this week, the Rock River Valley Blood Center’s Freeport Donor Center will be open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00am to 2:00pm and the second Saturday of each month from 7:00am to 11:00am.

Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVBC) opened the doors to a new facility located at 461 E. South Street in Freeport in January of this year. RRVBC has been a partner with FHN since 1977. Donors can make appointments by calling 815-23-BLOOD and walk ins are welcomed.

FHN has already used more than 1,500 blood products for patient care in 2007. 1 in 3 American’s will need a blood transfusion in their lifetime.

Most people are eligible to donate. Eligible donors include those people at least age 16 (in IL, with parental consent) or 17 (in WI), who weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and are in general good health.

The Rock River Valley Blood Center is the only supplier of blood and related services to FHN, OSF Saint Anthony, Rockford Memorial, SwedishAmerican, Beloit Memorial, Edgerton, Mercy Harvard and Rochelle Community hospitals. Community-minded volunteers donate virtually all of this country’s supply of blood for transfusion.
